  • The Ten Commandments (1956) was Cecil B. DeMille's most spectacular and unequalled historical epic and also his last film (his 70th). The 3 hour, 40 minute film (divided into two parts with an intermission) was the highest-earning live-action film of the decade of the 1950s until Ben-Hur (1959) toppled it.
